Here at Hanson Road, we believe that giving back to the community that has given so much to us is very important. We are a small, women-led business, and supporting the women both within our company and our community is integral to our values. We also have an incredible clientele of loving and generous Roadies who are in alignment with every women-focused fundraising initiative we host, and who continue to show up for us and the women in our community in every way possible.
When we launched Hanson Road 2.0 and moved into our new location on King Street, we started an ongoing initiative called the Grow Your Own Way Project, that will support three very crucial women-based organisations in our community: Grace House, Women in Transition House, and Gignoo Transition House. Grace House is a safe and accepting space that is kept, run and maintained by women, for women, that is home to 10 residents and provides a comforting, supportive and safe environment that produces dignity and self-determination. Women in Transition House is a safe and confidential shelter dedicated to helping women and children fleeing from domestic abuse by providing refuge, comfort and a time for healing. Gignoo Transition House provides support to all First Nation women and children who are survivors of domestic violence. All programs and services are provided in the context of cultural beliefs and values to ensure a holistic approach is used as a part of their healing journey.
We have designed a very special Grow Your Own Way wall in our new Hanson Road home that houses several locally made Propagation Stations which were built and donated by Livcan Design. These propagation stations will house many different varieties of plant cuttings that are donated from our permanent shop plants, our team, and our clientele of Roadies who choose to donate cuttings from their own plant collections. Cuttings will be priced according to their rarity and demand. *ALL* proceeds from the Grow Your Own Way wall will be donated bi-annually to one of the organisations above on a rotating basis. We hope these ongoing donations will positively impact the women using these immensely valuable resources, and we plan to continue to develop this initiative and find ways to increase our ability to give back in more ways over time.
Thank you from the bottom of our flowery hearts to all who support us in this cause, whether through plant cutting or monetary donations, sharing our cause through social media or spreading the word to their friends and family. We see you, and we appreciate you.
